What We Are About
What we have available
Nexus itself is a spacious studio composed to 2 main training rooms, a
treatment room and a lounge area. The space consists of 2500 square
feet, and we have a collection of martial arts weapons as well as other
training equipment.
    As an events producer for
almost 20 years, I've had many
great experiences with venues,
but Travis at Nexus has certainly
been one of the most
accommodating, courteous and
helpful.

The space has a warm vibe
and lots of beautiful daylight. It's
quite versatile with 2 rooms to
suit many different needs from
evening events to daytime
workshops or lectures. It's very
well equipped with a small
adjustable stage, and most
facilities that many other venues
charge extra for.

Travis is also one of the most
hard-working and supportive
venue owners I've ever
encountered. He brings back the
original meaning of what true
excellent customer service used
to mean to the older generation,
something rarely found in any
service these days.

I would not think twice about
recommending this space to
anyone and wish them well in all
their endeavors !

Testimonials
The ancient art of Chinese Gong Fu is based on the relationship
between body
, mind and spirit. Through its practice you learn that
physical prowess includes more than j
ust strength and flexibility. It is an
i
ntegration of the physical body with the internal self, resulting in a
dynamic f
reedom of the three aspects combined.

It was in this search of ‘perfect mind, perfect body’ that art
work came to
be a central aspect of N
exus. The role of art in self cultivation presents
itself
through the Chinese notions of the Scholar Warrior, wherein the
knight or nobleman of ancient China was trained not only in swordplay,
archery and horse riding but also in poetry and calligraphy. Further
proof of the fundamental role of art can be found in the teachings of
Leonardo Da Vinci who advanced the notion that the quintessential
Renaissance man was one who developed both body and mind,
embracing all of man’s different and complementary facets.

It is in this spirit that Nexus has grown. Originally a martial arts studio
based on Chinese Gong Fu
styles of Xingyi Quan and Bagua Zhang,
Nexus has evolved into a c
ultural center that showcases different art
forms. Our location in the idyllic setting of the Old Port of Montreal is in
synch with our goal of p
resent the works of new and upcoming artists.

The openness of the studio allows for a variety of events, ranging from
film nights to f
undraisers, from training seminars to art exhibitions and
everything in between.

In the process of our growth, we have maintained our original purpose of
offering various forms of physical development and martial t
raining. We
have weekly classes on Chinese conditioning drills,
Wu style Tai Ji and
m
editation. Personal training is also available upon request.

We always welcome suggestions on new ways of using the studio,
whether it is for a special event or for an exhibit.
